Good Old Days M&M Cookies – Springtime Cottage

Imagine taking a bite of your hot, scrumptious cookie, fresh out of the oven, your teeth sink into the thick crumbly exterior, and you are engulfed in pure bliss as you enjoy the crunchy delight.

What is this dish

M&M Cookies are baked treats usually small, flat, and sweet with multi-colored M&Ms added throughout. Normally serving them in batches, they are always a welcoming aroma that completes every household. Transforming your house into a home, nothing says home like cookies.

Fun facts

• The M&Ms’ “M” Stands for Mars and Murrie the creators of M&M.
• M&Ms were first packaged in boxed tubes
• 67,000 M&Ms were once used to make M&Ms Candy the cow.

These snacks were inspired by Forrest Mars in the 1930s to 1940s after he visited Spain, where he saw soldiers, amid their civil war eating chocolate in a hard sugary coated shell which set off a light bulb in Mars. This later paved the way for kitchen creatives to add M&Ms to cookies and other various dishes.

When To Serve

These awesome treats are perfect for family game night, for parties, or even just to makes your guests feel welcome and more at home. M&M cookies are a must-have if you are a host of any social gathering events/ parties.

Best Served With

The great thing about M&M cookies is that they can go with almost any beverage, whether you are a warm milk kind of guy or an ice cream kind of girl, it will pair so well with them. However, it’s not limited to these combinations, these cookies can also be served with fruit salads and even fruit juices.

The science behind Eggs

Eggs provide structure, leavening, and color to your cookies, leaving out or adding extra can cause an imbalance, and ruin your dish. Ok, my fellow food lovers, if it has ever crossed your mind that maybe I can use one less egg or one more egg than the ingredients say, you should just try to stick to the original recipe.

Method of baking

Use a medium bowl to put your dry ingredients in, add flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt, mix until combined then set aside.

The process of creaming mixes the butter, sugar(granulated), and brown sugar in a mixing bowl or stand nicer, and beat well until creamed together, then add egg and vanilla.
Combine all the wet and dry ingredients to form a dough, add in the chocolate chips, and M&Ms last. Put the cookies on a lined sheet pan and bake.
